Hello, one more vote for teamviewer. There are several tools for remote desktop. The advantage of teamviewer is that you can even restart the computer to safemode and you can still connect. If you want to buy, it is expensive but the free version lets you access another system for 1 hour. After that, you have to log back in again an hour at the time.

I'd still recommend Teamviewer, it saves the trouble of getting around proxies and compatibility issues. And there's also a smartphone version, which means you can control your PC from your Droid (no Symbian, though, so my Nokia E90 can't help me there, unfortunately). When setup properly, however, the built-in Remote Desktop features of Windows are solid contestants.
