Clothing lines, makeup brands, writing books—these are the main business ventures that celebrities and YouTubers go into when expanding their business empire outside of the internet.

However, with social media now being part and parcel of our lives, a few have decided to work with developers to launch social media apps that will reach a wider audience.

Here is a short list of social media apps founded by celebrities and YouTubers.

 1. Daisie by Maisie Williams

Did you know that Arya Stark is an entrepreneur in real life? Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams jointly owns a talent discovery app called Daisie, which was launched in 2019.

The app aims to provide a platform for creatives to develop their portfolios, share their work, and network with one another. Writers, filmmakers, singers, chefs, developers, architects—as long as you’re involved in some kind of creative work, Daisie is the place for you.

The app gained 100,000 members in less than two weeks after its launch, and Maisie Williams and co-founder Dom Santry earned $500,000 in profit in 2020.

Now, in addition to social media networking, Daisie also has online courses for anyone who wishes to hone their creative skills, with a subscription available for unlimited access.

Unfortunately for Android users, there is no version of the app on the Google Play Store. However, the website allows users to log in.

If you feel that you don’t have enough emojis and GIFs on your phone, Logan Paul’s SplitMoji is here to help. The app allows you to create your own custom emojis, stickers, and GIFs. To create funnier GIFs, users are also encouraged to dance and even do splits.

After creating them, users can send them to their friends on any messaging app.

When YouTuber and Twitch streamer Jamie Pine is not in front of the cameras streaming for thousands of people, he is a full-stack software engineer combining his IT knowledge with his fame to make money.

Launched in April 2021, Notify is an app that “acts as a platform above all platforms”. It allows content creators to send notifications that link directly to content on other platforms to their audiences.

This means that when fans subscribe to their favorite content creator on Notify, they will be notified of that creator’s new activities on every platform including YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, and Twitch.

Jamie Pine spent three years developing Notify, documenting the progress he made with the app online. Although the app is still in its early stages, its growth has been promising so far.

In fact, Jamie Pine and his team secured $1 million in funding from three venture capital firms.
