I have Windows 7 ultimate. It has IE9 which is lousy. It stops working with no notice. Maybe some files got corrupted. Is it safe to remove it from control panel (update) and then download it again from Microsoft.com? Please advise.

If none of the suggestions help and you don't have add-ons or extensions installed, try using Windows Repair (All-in-one) from here: http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/windows_repair_all_in_one.html. It is with a shot to see if it can help your IE issues. Updating to IE10 is definitely recommended.

Install IE10 for Windows 7. It has been launched around a couple of months ago, I guess, from Microsoft. It is thousands times better than IE9. Select the language of your choice. Download link : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/downloads/ie-10/worldwide-languagesHowever, personally I still prefer Chrome and Firefox latest versions.

Install IE 10. MS fixed many of the problems that IE 9 had in this release.

Yeps, the compatibility view maintains compatibility with downward versions of IE. :)

The idea of actually removing IE9 is kind of funny. MS has done a great deal to make many of its components integral to the functioning of the system that it cannot be completely removed any longer (check out the fiasco regarding the bundling of IE with Windows in the past when it could be proven that it was not required for the OS to work properly). For example, parts of IE are required to make Automatic Updates function. You can go through the motions to remove it and reinstall, but you probably won't have any better luck than simply reinstalling it without attempting the removal process. This is not to say that it won't help fix some of the issues you are having with it. Either way, make sure you keep running updates until you get all of the current patches for it.You may be better off using a different web browser for your default and simply keeping IE around for those sites that don't want to work with anything else.

No. you should install Firefox, Chrome, or even Comodo. Literally, the only thing I use IE for is to download Firefox. Internet exploder just isn't worth it.
