Hi,
I have a website and I wish to share a folder (which is on my desktop) with my visitors, so they can access and use it like a shared folder. I have tried SelfCloud software but there is no option to share with my visitors. Do you know of any other solutions?
Thanks

Dropbox is a good idea, i believe. Simply share the desired folder via link and spread it over to your visitors. They can also sync it with their dropbox account and you will be notified each time update is being made on it.http://www.cloudreviews.com/dropbox-reviews.html

upload it to a file sharing site like dropbox, mediafire etc

SkyDrive would be the best solution.

Well, considering you really want to share a physical folder on your computer (which isn't the safest of solutions), you can run an FTP server of your own and forward it to a subdomain on your website. For Windows FTP solutions, take a look at: http://filezilla-project.org/Or you could run WAMP and share the folder through that.Unless your ISP gives you a static IP, you'll need to use some kind of forwarding as well, a service like No-IP (http://www.no-ip.com/) or DynDNS (http://dyn.com/dns/) to tie it all together. So, once again. You set up an FTP server giving the users public access to a folder on your desktop, then you link a subdomain of your website to that server using one of the forwarding services mentioned above. However, I feel I should warn you, that's really not safe.

Depending on your web host you may also be able to setup anonymous ftp. There are programs for automating ftp uploads to make them easier. (Drop the file to be upload on an exe and it automatically connects and starts uploading)

Anything like dropbox, box.com and make that folder public.

Dependant on the size of the folder, there are many cloud services online. I also personally recommend Dropbox you get around 2.5GB free when you first start and can earn 16GB for free! All you would need to do is download Dropbox (or use the online service) and drag the folder from your desktop into your Dropbox user-space (It will tell you how to do this). Then all you have to do is right click the folder and click "Share link". And shabam stick that on your website and everyone will be able to see the contents of that folder.(P.S. Please use this link if you want to get it, then we will both get 500MB free space) http://db.tt/BctYe7Sw

use dropbox and use the public folder address to share content from your computer .

Or you could use Google Drive, just download their software, then transfer the contents of your current folder into that folder named "Drive" then edit the sharing options to "Anyone with the link" and post the link on your website.

I think you should go for an online storage rather than sharing a folder that's in your personal computer. It would make you pc vulnerable to out siders. I would recommend you sky drive, dropbox ( since you are going to share the content security wont be a matter : dropbox had some security issues lately ) or google drive. they are free and easy to use. there are desktop clients for most of the services and you can synchronize them easily. try them!

Yes Dropbox is a good idea, just don't share folder through windows to all :)Another way is to make a net folder that is linked to a web server that you can put files online that way but I would rather do that through ftp

Upload in box.net and share to users

I also suggest the dropbox

You could sign-up for Dropbox and use it's windows desktop client t sync folders. But here's a more complicated one:http://www.rejetto.com/hfs/

Sighup for DropBox, install it's windows client software and use the Public folder in it. Also you can make any folder as public share.
