Since GMail doesn't provide SMS alerts, I know that many people set up a forwarding address using their mobile number and their carrier's eMail to SMS gateway as a workaround.
When trying to do this with an iPhone, however, GMail sends a confirmation text with a code that must be entered on the computer to confirm. However, the code seems to get truncated when sent to an iPhone so it becomes impossible to set up eMail forwarding to an iPhone. Any ideas?

Unfortunately I can't help you with the "forwarding" option. My provider requires a special PIN in the email-subject to use the eMail-SMS-Gateway.but maybe this will help you solve the problem:http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-setup-free-sms-alerts-for-urgent-emails-in-gmail/
