I would like to make announcements for upcoming events directly to people's mobile phones using email or other net services.

Any help, please?

Thanks!

This is a very common request from most people and very easy to do. The hardest part of the entire process is knowing what carrier each individual you are sending to belongs to. Each cell number has an @cell_provider type address that allows you to send an email to a persons cellphone from an email client and it will show up on the clients side just like a text message. Here is a link to all the extension formats based on carriers. Hope this helpshttp://www.appscout.com/2007/10/how_to_send_email_to_sms_cell.php

For UK based users at least there's this service: http://fax.co.uk/fcuk/sms.htmOnly economic to use this if you use it enough to justify the monthly minimum charge of GBP5I've been using their Fax to Email service for over 10 years.

Sign up for Google Voice. You can do a myriad of things from there and most of them you can do directly from Gmail, including making and receiving phone calls to both land lines and cell phones (for free) and you can send and receive sms there, too. Once you use the service and get used to it, you'll wonder how you ever did without it. It ROCKS.
