Samsung has the best software update policy in the Android world and is about to prove it once again by updating a number of its phones to the Android 13-based One UI 5 by the end of the year.

A report on Samsung's launch timeline shows that the Galaxy S21 and S22 and the latest two generations of Galaxy Z phones are set to get the update, as well as the mid-range A53.

Which Samsung Phones Are Getting Updated?

According to SamMobile, the following phones should be updated to One UI 5 and Android 13 this year:

  • Samsung Galaxy S22 series
  • Samsung Galaxy S21 series
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3
  • Samsung Galaxy A53

That the most recent flagship S and Z-series devices are on the list comes as no surprise. Samsung launched its public One UI 5 beta for select models in August, and the company has always prioritized its most premium phones for speedy updates.

However, the mid-range A53 is perhaps less expected, and certainly welcome. Although it is one of Samsung's biggest selling phones, mid-rangers tend to have to wait a lot longer for updates—many manufacturers don't even bother to update their non-flagship phones at all.

When will you get it, exactly? There's no word on the precise timing, but last year's date could give us a clue.

One UI 4 launched for the S21 series on November 15, 2021, and then was rolled out for other phones over the subsequent months (for example, the A52 5G got it in December, and the original A52 got it in January).

There's no word on the timeline for other phones. Based on previous schedules, we'd expect most eligible models to be updated in Q1 of 2023. This will include phones like the S20 series, the Note 20 series, other mid-range phones in the A, M, and F series, and some tablets.
