The Roomba lineup from iRobot is one of the most well-known names in the robot vacuum space.

And the company has just unveiled its first device that combines both a vacuum and mop in one device.

Introducing the Roomba Combo j7+

The Roomba Combo j7+ was introduced by iRobot via a press release. A 2-in-1 combo device is designed for homes with both carpets and hardwood floors.

Thanks to advanced sensors, whenever the robot transitions from hardwood floors to carpet or rugs, the mop head will fully retract to the top of the robot to make sure you’ll never need to worry with a damp rug.

While working around your home, the Roomba Combo j7+ recognizes more than 80 common household objects. That means, for example, you can tell the robot to lean around a dishwasher on command.

It will also detect and avoid common household hazards like clothes, cords, and even dog waste, so it can continue to work while not making a mess or getting stuck.

The robot will also come with the Clean Base that will empty dirt and debris automatically to an enclosed bag that doesn’t need to be replaced for up to 60 days. Unfortunately, you will still have to fill the water tank for the mop manually.

With the iRobot Home app, you can customize cleaning and tell the robot where to clean and even the amount of cleaning solution for the mop to dispense.

You can pre-order the Roomba Combo j7+ now directly from iRobot for $1,099. It will officially arrive on October 4, 2022.

Catching up with Competitors

The Roomba Combo j7+ is the first new product announced by iRobot since Amazon announced its acquisition of the company for $1.7 billion in August 2022.

Many competitors, like Roborock, already offer mop/vacuum combinations. But the Roomba Combo j7+ and its retractable mop pad is definitely a unique way to tackle handling both cleaning duties.

A Great Combination

Even though the price for the Roomba Combo j7+ is steep, being able to tackle both vacuuming and mopping tasks makes it a good choice for anyone interested in a Roomba. And it’s much less than buying a separate mop and vacuum from the company.
