Roland has announced that it is to release its all new audio workstation, the VERSELAB MV-1; a new music composition device for modern artists.

Introducing the VERSELAB MV-1

Having announced the Aerophone Pro digital wind instrument, Roland's has also teased one of its forthcoming music machines at CES 2021; the VERSELAB MV-1.

Roland bills the device as an all-in-one workstation, meaning that you can use it as a standalone device to create your own music.

Similar, in some respects, to a digital audio workstation (DAW) such as Ableton, the VERSELAB features everything an aspiring producer needs to create entire tracks. Only this is a piece of physical hardware.

Roland has the VERSELAB penciled in for a January 2021 release, so when we say it is launching soon, we mean SOON.

It will cost $699.99 at launch, so isn't overly expensive considering what the device is capable of.

What Can the VERSELAB MV-1 Do?

While it might make more sense, time-wise, to list the few things the VERSELAB can't do, that is way less exciting than explaining its features.

First off, the name of the device might give the game away somewhat. It is capable of recording vocals, meaning that you can easily capture those spare-of-the-moment bursts of audio inspiration, given that it is a portable device.

It also features 16 velocity-sensitive pads, perfect for parking samples and loops, which you can then trigger with the simple press of one of the vibrantly colored buttons.

You even have a rhythm sequencer, meaning you can add drum tracks to your compositions. This is some serious music tech.

Combine the VERSELAB With Roland's Zenbeats App

If you are really serious about producing music with this device, then you'll want to pair it with Roland's Zenbeats app. It has full compatibility with the software, making the possibilities almost endless with this thing.

Zenbeats is Roland's DAW for smart devices, so it works perfectly on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.

With this, you can power the VERSLAB with a vast range of samples and loops, turning your earworm into a tangible sonic serpent ready for the club floor.

Why Use a Roland VERSELAB?

Roland is one of the most highly regarded designers and manufacturers of music hardware in the world.

Much of the music we listen to today, particularly electronic music, wouldn't have been possible without the company's groundbreaking drum machines, such as the TR-808 and 909, or its bass synth the TB-303.

The sounds from these machines will be available to the VERSELAB via the Zenbeats app, so you can give your music quality by using authentic samples that have spanned decades of music production.

The Roland VERSELAB MV-1 Is an Exciting Synth!

The MV-1 looks pretty awesome, we have to say. Because it is essentially a portable studio, you can produce music wherever and whenever the mood takes you.

People love portability, especially when it means you don't have to lug five or six synths and keyboards around with you to lay some tracks down. You have (almost) everything you need right here, with the MV-1.
