Roblox, the online multiplayer experience that allows people to create their own games, now has over 42 million active users.

Despite launching a decade and a half ago, Roblox continues to go from strength to strength and shows no signs of slowing down.

Roblox's Player Base Continues to Grow in Size and Engagement

As announced on Roblox's investor relations website, in a post detailing the first quarter financial results of 2021, Roblox Corporation announced that its game Roblox now has 42.1 million daily active users.

That represents a 79% year-over-year increase, with growth primarily driven from users outside the US/Canada and those over the age of 13.

While Roblox is primarily known as a game for children, which is partly why Roblox is trying to solve its sexual content problem, it seems the player base is growing beyond that demographic.

Hours engaged has also increased to 9.7 billion, with a growth of 98% year-over-year.

Importantly for the Roblox Corporation, revenue increased 140% over Q1 2020 to $387 million.

This impressive growth has no doubt been created by the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when many people have been stuck inside and looking for entertainment.

While those restrictions are lifting in some parts of the world, Roblox's estimated metrics for April 2021 (as the final figures are still being calculated) show a growth of one million in daily active users over the prior month, a sign that the game will continue to thrive. Perhaps we'll still be talking about Roblox in another 15 years?
