There recently was an application that tricked a lot of people I know into using it. It was 'Profile Peeker' or something of the sort, which allows you to see who's been looking at your profile. It was a scam to get your phone number, so that you could be telemarketed. By the time I realized it wasn't good to pick and allow, it was too late.

The problem I now have is that my computer seems to be compromised. I have pop-up ads coming up when my pop-up blocker is turned on. In addition, I read your solution to removing the malware and I no longer have an application button on my account-pull down menu.

Hello, download the following software and do a full scan in safe mode. It is not really necessary for you to update them because the file you download already has the most recent signatures. If you want to update both softwares, you can install them on your desktop and update them. Once finished with that you can restart your computer in safe mode. http://www.malwarebytes.org/http://www.superantispyware.com/ download portable version with .com extensionIt would be a good idea for you to keep malwarebytes installed and superantispyware on a flash drive for future scanning. Make sure you run the two programs in safemode. When both programs are finished scanning, make sure to either delete or quarentine whatever is found. Once finished with that start in normal mode and do full scan again in safe mode. Also run a full scan with your antivirus. Also, go to this next link and do a scan with the online scanner. This scan is going to show you any vulnerabilities your system has and also if any of the common programs like java, flash, etc., need updating. http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/online/And for Christ sake if you are using Internet Explorer.....change your browser to Firefox, Chrome or Opera. Hope it helps.

I run a cleaner like ccleaner, fcleaner, ect. before I run a removal tool. It deletes the .tmp files that viruses compress to that hide them from scanning.
