There are so many ways to unlock a smartphone. There are the standbys like typing in a pin and using a pattern to open the device. You can also use biometrics like your fingerprint or face to get past the lock screen without actually entering a code.

According to a report from SamMobile, Samsung may add support for using your voice through Bixby to unlock its next-generation Galaxy S21 smartphone. This would give you another quick way to unlock your device and get stuff done.

Voice Unlock on Samsung Galaxy S21

If the rumor ends up being true, Samsung plans to roll out this feature as one of the exclusives to the yet-unannounced Galaxy S21. This would certainly be a way for the company to attract people to its latest phone (other than it just being the new Samsung flagship).

Voice unlock on the Galaxy S21 wouldn't be Samsung's first foray into using Bixby to unlock its smartphones, as it used to offer the feature in Galaxy smartphones a few years ago. Samsung got rid of the feature, but it looks like it's bringing it back with its new phone.

Unfortunately, the report didn't indicate how Bixby's voice unlock feature will work. It could work like the old feature where you can unlock the device by saying Hi, Bixby, or having you say a specific password to open it.

Is Voice Unlock Secure?

It's important to note that using your voice to open your phone won't be the most secure option. Anyone with a recording of your voice might be able to get into your phone.

However, some users are willing to trade a little security for convenience, and that's what this feature could bring to the Samsung Galaxy S21.
