Windows 7 somehow got corrupted after installing Windows updates. Can it be repaired by using Windows 7 installation disks that were not the original installation disks? If so, how?

Normally there should be a restore point created by windows update, you can boot by pressing F8 and there should be an option to roll back, also you can do that with windows cd.

Jack, yes, you should be able to use any original Windows 7 installation disk to repair your Windows 7.The question is, in what state is your system in now? You say it's corrupted. What do you mean with that? Does it no longer boot? Can you still log into your user account? Are there error messages? What exactly is wrong?Did you try a system restore? If you can no longer access your user account, I recommend this article on SevenForums:
