Can I remove all txt files from Windows XP without causing problems?

well if you uninstall microsoft word and still be able to use windows, install/delete applications, my guess will be okay. But you cant delete txt files that comes with applications since they need to work, some keeps info like version numbers, other instructions....

My question is, why would you need to? To answer your question, I doubt you can. A lot of applications store connection information (SQL Server Addresses) in a text file, so you may find that certain applications no longer update or connect.

Although I don't recall anything Windows stores within a TXT file I recommend to leave the
Windows
folder along with
Program FilesCommon
alone.For everything else I suggest to backup or rename until you are certain nothing necessary is in there.
