My wife's Dell Dimension 2400 system just went through a bout with a Trojan. I've tried everything I know to get it working right again.

I would like to just re-install but original CD is missing. How do I go about getting another CD or are there other alternatives?

There are three good articles on MakeUseOf which enables you to retrieve your Microsoft license key :http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/3-ways-recover-serial-numbers-windows/http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/use-licensecrawler-to-recover-your-lost-software-serial-numbers/http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/recover-your-lost-xp-vista-and-office-serial-numbers/Once you have your license key, just borrow someone else's installation disk and reinstall.

Myke46,If you can borrow someone else's XP disc, preferably a Dell version, you could try looking up your Windows XP serial number and using that. There are programs that can look up the serial for you just try searching MUO and Google for them.Your other option would be to call Microsoft and explain your situation to them. They probably would send you a new disc or at least direct you to where you could download one.
