I accidentally deleted the audio drivers on my Windows laptop, and now sound won't work.

How do I reinstall my audio devices?

Most versions of Windows support many, but not all sound cards out of the box. So, first of all go to the control panel and run the "Add a device" wizard (called "Add hardware" in Windows XP). If it doesn't find your sound card or has no suitable drivers for it, follow Dalsan's suggestion and download the drivers from manufacturer's site, run the setup program. You may need to reboot the laptop at the end but that's about it!

Go to the laptop manufacturer's support website, such as support.hp.com, search your laptop model, and look at the list of drivers and software. Find the audio driver, download and install it. Then check Windows Update to see if there are updates for the audio driver.
