Does reducing Windows performance increase battery life? Any tips how I can do this if so?

basically, it does. batteries last longer if you are not running power-hungry hardware or softwares.

most likely it does depending on your ram and battery life

As far as I know, yes, it does increase battery life. There should be a "power save" mode or something you could use.

Yes !!!Power Saving mode will reduce Performance and increases Battery life

don't reduce the windows performance it wouldn't increase the battery life, But reduce the laptop performance from the task manager then you'r laptop battery life will be increases.

increasing battery life will be limited, reducing windows performance may also reduce applications performance. There are some services and process that can be shutdown, you can try to reduce processor speed.STOP UNWANTED HIGH CPU USAGE PROCESSES:http://techmantr.in/5-important-ways-to-increase-your-battery-life-laptop-performance/

The screen is usually the comes that takes in the most power. So dimming it and also disabling any background tasks does make a slight difference.

Power settings > Power Saver mode

your question is a broad one to answer! please narrow it down so that we can give a specific answer! what do you mean by reducing windows performance?

Reducing performance? You did not explain your question well. However, Let me answer to the nearest. To improve your system's performance replace bulky applications with lightweight alternatives. Example: Use SumatraPDF instead of Adobe reader.

Tune Up Utilies has a good power plan..You can manage your screen light, turning off of the hard disks, network connection etc.. both for plug-in & battery mode! What I can say is that, even if you use a power plan, still you will not get too much battery life.. Try it, maybe it will be helpful for you!

yes definitely, use the power plan settings in control panel to switch between high performance, balanced, and power saver
2012-10-19 07:00:32
Yes.....! Balanced mode will save the power and performance will be betterPower Saver will reduce Performance and Battery life will increase

Usually a darker screen, or turning off my wireless card will not affect my computers performance, although it will save energy. But underclocking your computers CPU does decrease performance and save energy, although it is more difficut than the power options built into windows.

Keeping your laptop cool, dimming its display, and enabling system hibernation are all good ways to prolong battery life; but in this guide we'll be focusing on hard numbers that illustrate the potential benefits of certain modifications.

In general the only thing the "power saver"mode on laptops do is reduce backlight and have a smaller wait time before turning off the monitor and putting the computer to sleep. If you're on a plane or somewhere where you don't need/have wifi but want to conserve battery I'd highly recommend turning off the wireless card, this can be achieved either through a hardware switch on the side of the laptop or using the function keys at the top of the keyboard (it depends on the make and model of your machine).

1. Most laptops have a "power save" mode usually applied by clicking on your battery indicator in the taskbar. 2. You should make sure to "cycle" the battery (run the battery all the way down and then fully charge it) at least once a month. 3. Close any background programs that you aren't currently using(the icons for these are usually in the taskbar as well). 4. Close any widgets that you aren't using.
