Reddit is full of great content and discussions, but often quite messy. These Reddit clients offer a better browsing experience on laptops, desktop computers, and some mobile browsers.

Given the geeky and techy community on Reddit, it's no surprise that developers keep making new ways to customize the experience. For example, most recently, we came across a fantastic alternative Reddit app called Deck for Reddit for those who want a Tweetdeck-like view on Reddit. Well, that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Reddit clients for desktop users.

1. Troddit (Web): Multi-Column Card-Based Reddit

Troddit delivers a multi-column, card-based view for Reddit that is much more pleasing in a browser on desktops or tablets

Troddit is one of the newest web-based Reddit clients for a better Reddit experience. It works on desktop and mobile browsers and is completely free and open-source.

The main feature of Troddit is how it looks. You'll see a multi-column layout of posts as cards, dynamically adjusting their size to the contents of the post. For example, posts with vertical photos will expand to look like a long card, while a snippet of text will shrink into a tiny card.

Troddit has a powerful gallery view and will also play videos and animations within the app if you hover your cursor over a Reddit-hosted video or GIF.

Users who log into their Reddit accounts will get your regular front page based on your likes and subscriptions in this new layout. Troddit supports voting, commenting, subscribing and unsubscribing, and search.

2. Teddit and Libreddit (Web): Privacy Protecting Reddit Client

Teddit is a privacy-friendly way to use Reddit without a VPN and without an account

Reddit has grown from a corner of the internet for geeks into the biggest discussion board on the web. Naturally, Reddit has employed trackers and other privacy-unfriendly features to maximize advertising revenue. Two web apps are fighting back.

Teddit is a simple, privacy-protecting Reddit client that runs in the browser and looks a lot like Reddit itself. You'll be hard-pressed to find dissimilar features. Just know that it works without tracking your user activity and loads no ads. Several users have also noted that Teddit works where Reddit is officially blocked. So if you aren't using a VPN, you can still use Teddit instead of Reddit.

Libreddit is another privacy-focused alternative that employs no trackers and serves no ads. It looks slicker than Teddit and Reddit, and offers a few customizable settings like different types of layouts, custom frontpage, autoplaying videos or not, and what measure posts and comments will be sorted by default.

Try both apps and see which one you like more. Either way, your privacy will be better protected than using the official Reddit app.

3. Uforio (Web, macOS): Reddit Feed Grouped by Content Type

Uforio groups all posts on Reddit by what they contain: links, images, videos, GIFs, short texts, or long texts

Uforio offers a different take on Reddit by grouping all content by type. Whether you open the front page or any particular subreddit, all posts are grouped into six types: links, pictures, videos, GIFs, short texts, and long texts. Uforio isn't specific about how it distinguishes between short and long texts, but click around for a bit, and you'll see it works well.

It's a little disconcerting when you first try it out, but it quickly grows on you, especially since there isn't an option to sort your regular Reddit feed like this. You can also filter the posts to include or exclude 18+ content and see only unread posts. It's a minimalist, eye-pleasing interface helped by design choices like colored comments.

Uforio is best used on macOS. If you'd prefer not to have a Reddit account, you can still make a Uforio account to sync your preferences and subscriptions across devices. Of course, you'll be sacrificing Reddit karma and other perks.

4. Reddulator, Reddit by Email, and Unreadit (Web): Email Digest With Top Reddit Posts

Reddulator is the best free app to get an email newsletter or daily digest of Reddit posts in your inbox

For registered users, Reddit offers a daily digest of top posts from different subreddits you're subscribed to. Unfortunately, several users have complained about getting posts from non-subscribed subreddits and communities in recent months. Reddit is getting more aggressive in trying to figure out what you want to read by tracking your activity, it seems. You can ditch the official Reddit daily digest and use a few apps for newsletter digests of top posts.

Reddulator is the simplest free app to get a daily digest of Reddit posts based on your interests. Once you sign up, add the subreddits you're interested in and choose your region. Reddulator will then send a daily digest in the morning of the most important and interesting news based on your choices.

Reddit by Email offers only a limited number of subreddits out of which to create your daily digest. Categories include interesting facts, business and technology, entertaining reads, science and economics, shows and documentaries, quotes, javascript, life hacks, personal finance, self improvement, and recipes. While choices are limited, the formatting is excellent to read your daily digest on mobile or desktop.

Another excellent option is Unreadit, which we've mentioned before as an awesome site to find Reddit's best posts. In this, human curators choose the best Reddit posts based on your interests and prepare email digests for you to read.

5. Reddium (Web): Reddit With Medium's Design for More Readability

Reddium emulates Medium's interface to make Reddit more beautiful to browse and read on desktop and mobile

Reddit is a storehouse of the internet's best discussions and links, but its design often drives people up the wall. Medium is known for its great design and readability, but the content isn't as rich as Reddit. Reddium gives you the best of both worlds.

This is a simple, free Medium-themed Reddit client that runs entirely in your browser. It makes Reddit posts more discoverable and pleasing to the eye. By following the design principles of Medium, you'll get better readability on posts and comments with a lot of text, like Reddit's best comments and discussions.

Here's the best part: Reddium works on mobile browsers. It's a far better interface than the official Reddit web app or mobile apps. Plus, it removes ads and other clutter by default if you prefer a minimalist interface (as most would on the phone).

Try the Reddit Enhancement Suite

These alternative Reddit desktop clients will usually need a sacrifice somewhere or the other. If you're a power user on Reddit, you might still want to stick with the original site. The good news is that you can make the original better if you use the Reddit Enhancement Suite.

This is a powerful browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. It has many features like comment tracking, keyboard shortcuts, customizable views, and more to make your Reddit experience better than ever without missing any perks of the original site.
