I use Outlook 2010 with Exchange server and everything has been going well but few days ago my Outlook's OST database become unreadable and I have more than 2GB data in the database. Can anybody give me and idea about how can I recover my OST file?

A friend suggested that I need an OST to PST converter tool - is this true?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Johan , If you are unable to read your Exchange OST file data, it means your OST file gets corrupted and you need a tool to repair corrupted OST file. So I would recommend Stellar Phoenix Convert OST to PST software to fix your OST file corruption issue.

Take a look at MailstoreHome. It's free software for backing up email from popular email clients such as Outlook but I believe it can open database files as well. If not it's still a great program for keeping your emails backed up and easy to search.

As http://profile.yahoo.com/ZKAWRBDJDJNV2TT5WTJI3V5IFI said you will have to use the INBOX REPAIR TOOL (scanpst.exe) for this task. The tool is not available for download so need to search for it, it is installed when you install MICROSOFT OFFICE or OUTLOOK.Here is the video tutorial for it and much detailed information on how to go through the process ----------> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287497

Close Outlook and delete the OST file. Reopen Outlook and the file will be recreated. An OST file is the offline store that is synced to your mailbox on the Exchange server when you log on. If this store gets damaged, all you need to do is delete it and log into the server again to force a full resync and automagically fix the data store. If this happened with a PST file, you would need another tool to try to fix the issue.
