I want to record an internet audio stream from a local radio station.

I could use Audicity's "What U Hear" function, but I would like to know if there is a piece of software that would record automatically the shows I'm interested in. I know about streamwriter (http://streamwriter.org), but I'm not sure if it's a legit piece of software.

Is there anything you guys recommend?

you can try using Audials One, you usually get 3 options when you want to record an online radio: one of them is via the soundcard (this way you record everything that you can hear on your computer), you can do audio recording and then there's the radio recording option where you even get a huge list of radio station you can choose from or add your own url if you don't find your radio in there.
