I am looking for a MP3 ripper simple enough for my wife to use on her Windows laptop. It needs to automatically do the title & author lookups etc.

A similar one she can use on my Ubuntu desktop would be great as well.

My wife wants to convert our CD library to MP3. :)

Under Windows, you can use Windows Media Player to rip CDs to MP3 files.  It's free and there is a version of it installed on EVERY Windows-based computer by default.

Hi Michael, CDex Ripper is a free and open source CD extractor, which will install in Windows. The source is available if you want to use the same software in Linux, however you will have to recompile it.  Sound Juicer (Ubuntu's default CD-ripping application) is located at Applications -> Sound and Video -> Audio CD Extractor.
