I'd love to be able to provide my colleagues with one or more standard flyer templates branded with our company logo etc. Right now they make flyers in Word, and we all know, that most of what comes out out Word is rarely professional looking.

I imagine there must be a modern online service like Quoteroller or Campaign Monitor, that is specialized in flyer or brochure creation? A service where I can define the basic layout and my colleagues can then just add text and hit 'download as pdf'.

Unfortunately my Google results so far haven't been too successful. So if any of you brilliant MakeUseOf fans out there know of an excellent service for such a demand, then please let me know :)

For Windows, Publisher is the best consumer level package I've ever used, but it has absolutely nothing on OSX's Pages app - gorgeous templates, very professional results. The best you can get with publisher is obvious amateur...

You could also use Microsoft Publisher.

There's no online version of Adobe InDesign, much less any other professional page layout programs. However, you could use the open source Scribus software, available for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux/Unix, and OS/2 Warp 4/eComStation.http://www.scribus.net

Well, if we are talking about "regular" flyers or brochures they are usually created within InDesign. If we are talking about something less complex where only things like time, date and location changes you could use anything that offers some sort of templates (even if that means blind text files like mentioned above) - that does include Word. You just need someone who is capable of creating a good looking "template".Depending on the scale a company that does a lot of this stuff might have some professionally programmed database system e.g. 4D or Filemaker where people enter the details and - as you said - hit a button to get a ready to use PDF with the company logo & details (which have been implemented somehow by the programmers). For smaller applications I can only think of some PHP (webserver) based  application or so.

Dont know much abt online services, but Adobe's indesign is perfect for creating professional brochures.. you can also check if they have an online app for indesign. (They actually have a web app for photoshop)..
