What is the best free web hosting service to use, Google sites or webs or another?
2011-12-19 11:21:00
at first free webhosting wasn't so reliable, but nowadays you can find a lot of websites which offer a lot of services, even domains...I, for one, used http://b2website.com or http://coolsitemaker.com ... find one which you think suits you best ;)

I am using HostGator hosting service and i am happy with it. It's not free but it's not expensive as well. I would recommend it to everyone. Here's the link: http://tinyurl.com/5uv6kox

Haven't tried Hostgator before but heard lots of positive feedback about them from known folks. One of the better hosters I suppose. For dedicated host I would recommend Rackspace.

Weebly offers free webhosting for sites done with their tool:Pros:excellent site building tools features include; contact page, forum, blogyou can download the zip archive of the website if you want to move Cons:small note at the end-of-page and weebly error pages for the free versionno php or other databasesif you move your website dynamic elements (like forums) will likely stop workingI use it for my personal site and i am very happy, but it depends on what you need.

If you want to make websites that's good, I think you should choose a webhost, where you can get PHP and MySQL. A good choice is http://www.ismywebsite.com/
2010-06-08 10:00:00
I also to not recommend free hostings. Their service is limited. Besides, it's always better to have YourName.com domain name than FreeHosting.YourName.comMy wife and I use several hostings but we prefer
iPage, great features and support + very reliable and affordable. They also register domain names. If you register a domain name and buy their hosting, your domain name is FREE. Besides, they don't stop at web hosting. They also give free advertising credits on top search engines, search-engine optimization tools, PC backup, malware scanning, security applications, etc. Unlimited Disk Space, Bandwidth & Email FREE Domain Name (Free for life, a $9.95 Value) FREE Security Suite FREE Site-Building Tools FREE Online Store FREE Google & Yahoo! Marketing Coupons And more... Now iPage has a promotion: Only $3.50 a month. I am going to move all my websites to this hosting.

If you want it for your blog you can use blogger to host your domain free for lifetime without any downtime or speed issues. With some tweaks you can easily remove all the blogger effects so that no one can guess your site is being freely hosted. check this out http://justawebmaster.com/2010/mapping-a-naked-domain-with-blogger-com

I use AwardSpace and Freehostia. Both give free hosting (and paid hosting, of course) with no ads at all. Both have generous specifications, free sub-domains if you wish, and the only restriction is a maximum file size of 512KB (that's individual file size, not overall web size of course.)You can set up a domain name anywhere for a few $ or £ and forward to the the free site - I use Go-Daddy for domain names, they're cheap and as good as anywhere.
2010-05-15 10:23:00
In these days, 512 KB isn't much. That's why IsMyWebsite have chosen not to have a limit on the file size, but have a full featured cPanel with everything you need. You pay with credits, and if you run out of disk space or bandwidth, you can just ask, and we'll increase your disk space and bandwidth so you have 10 times more bandwidth than disk space. You start out with 100 MB disk space and 1000 MB (1 GB) bandwidth, and then you can just ask, and we'll increase it.What is credits?Credits is our virtual currency you use to pay for your hosting. You can get credits by having advertising on your site, posting on our forums, rating our service (we don't give more or less because of higher or lower ratings) and for simply logging in to our panel. You can also get them by helping others (then you're an advisor, and you get 5 % of the credits the other client earn - paid by us and not the client).

If you want a free webhost just do it yourself, its very easy. Find you an old pc that you or a buddy have lying around, throw CentOS 5.4 on it and make sure you add the apache service to the installation and viola, you have a free webhost. Then just go to 1and1.com or somewhere and register you a domain name. I state to use 1and1.com cause they are cheap (I pay $8/year) and by default they include free domain forwarding so you just forward all request to your domain to the public IP address of your CentOS box. Obviously you have to do some port forwarding on your router at home to point inbound http request to whatever your private address is, but its very simple and you have complete control over when your webserver is up or down.
2010-05-10 23:02:00
That's ture you can do that, but that wouldn't always be the best thing to do. Why not? Because you have to pay a higher electric bill. Managing your own server is not an easy thing to do. I would recommend trying IsMyWebsite.com instead.
2010-05-21 13:09:00
Just as a sidenote ;-) My electric bill has not increased what so ever. When I state host your own utilizing a webserver I don't mean some giant HP or Dell Blade server, just use an old tower or even a microATX box. Its no more expensive to do this than it would be to pay someone else to host your website for you. If you are computer literate enough to be able to setup your own webserver then you will not be worried about managing it. I don't have to do anything in depth to change mine cause I just use something like wordpress that has a GUI administrative front end that does all the hard work for me :-)
2010-05-22 05:10:00
Okay. Here at IsMyWebsite, we can host the most sites for under $0.7 Per year.--KristofferDen 22/05/2010 kl. 00.12 skrev "Disqus" :

The problem that I have with http://x10hosting.com, (Is it only me?) is that Nothing on their site, including sign up works with any browser except IE which I refuse to use.
2010-05-10 16:35:00

I have so much experience in free webhosts . I have tried almost all the leading Free webhosts [not kidding almost 15 hosts].Finally I had so much problems with many Free hosts for wordpress. I am giving the following list and their key points which must have known. All are Ad-free. 1) http://x10hosting.com - The best free webhost with good forum support.2) http://www.000webhost.com - Requires so much time to confirm account by admin3) http://www.byethost.com - Good for newbies , not good for wordpress and it give not found page .Poor Control panel. Finally i would like to strongly recommend x10hosting as they are really good at hosting have their own control panel which give easy access. For wordpress bloggers x10 is the best choice . -Tejas

If you want paid hosting A Small Orange offers a tiny plan for $25/yr, which should be good enough for any small website. I haven't used them personally, but have heard good things about them.
2010-05-22 22:10:00
Why pay $25/yr when you can get a good service, and unlimited disk space and bandwidth with us. When I say unlimited, I don't mean you see a sideways 8 in your cPanel, but just shoot us an email, and we'll give you more disk space and bandwidth when you need it. You only pay for the disk space and bandwidth you use. If we take this into real money, this can be as low as under $1/yr, and it'll increase as you use more. Our system is based on credits - a virtual currency. When you log in to our panel the first time on that day, you get an amount of credits just for logging in. And you get credits for your forum posts on our forums too. And the best way to earn credits is by placing some advertising. You can work on your site, and as more people come and visit it, and click the advertising, you'll earn credits to pay for your hosting. Our host is called IsMyWebsite.

What kind of facility do you guys run? Well guarded with dark fiber, low latency and dedicated uptime. You guys have inline UPS with backup generators for long term power failures. Plus, you don't need unlimited bandwidth and disk space, no one will ever use that. Not saying you guys are bad, I'm just saying there's a lot more to a reliable web host than just disk space and bandwidth.
2010-11-19 03:39:00
Most of our providers come from such a facility. Most notably our Node 7 is connected directly into the internet backbone of the US for extreme performance. And unlimited storage and bandwidth is of course a large fantasy, we just provide what our clients need, and room for growth. We host both large and small websites.Notably, the uptime is only around 99.9% on some servers, however we do have ones which average 99.95%, and lately higher. All of these come from competent companies who are well run. Essentially, we bring a huge amount of publicity for these hosts, and help out new webmasters, and in exchange our costs are very basic. So if you need 100% uptime I understand your paying $25/mo for that. If 15 minutes of downtime = a loss of over $1, then it makes sense. Otherwise, the service we provide is among the best available.
2010-11-19 12:15:00
I have to give you credit. . . If your service is as good as your PR then you probably run a pretty great business.

If you want to earn money by a web site then you should spend some money for buying host. But if you are new and just want to know or be familiar with c panel then try http://www.www.000webhost.com this free host thanks
2010-04-25 19:47:00
http://www.000webhost.com/ is OK. Up to 100 GB / month bandwidth.#You can get one.com hosting (paid) for about £10 for the 1st year!
2010-05-09 03:55:00
But if you have looked at their customer support, they're not very good. When you ask for help, they can just say that you need to upgrade to Hosting24 (the company that own them).
2010-04-25 14:50:00
I don't recommend free webhosting. They're tacky, unreliable, buggy, etc etc etc...get a cheap webhosting account .. I recommend shopaserver.com .. if you use the coupon "50off" it comes to about $1/ month .. That's pretty cheap!
2010-05-09 03:52:00
Now you make it all general. Yes, some hosts are buggy and what you said, but there is actually free hosts that have the same good quality as http://ismywebsite.com (currently closed until June 1st for new registration so we can improve the service in the long run). We've been around for 5 years, providing quality free hosting with the only requirement to have a visible ad within 1024x768 - displayed where you want it there. And once our site is back up, I think you should check out the client ratings. You might be surprised how satisfied our clients actually are.And yes, we have closed in this period of time because we need time to make some solutions on all the problems that comes up. And there we needed to take the site offline. The pros of having volunteers instead of workers is that often, the workers just want home again. Volunteers have filled out a long form and they want this.

A few years back, my favourite, and reliable free webhosting was with 100WebSpacehttp://www.100webspace.com/But when I check the site now, it doesn't work for some reason, but my sites still do and you can still login.
