Another vote for Picasa! In fact we recommend it in our 'Best Windows Software' page, http://www.makeuseof.com/pages/best-windows-software#image

I use Photology, but the last I heard development had stopped. It is nice because you can search your pictures by (exif) date/time , predominant color, day/night, the presence of faces or landscape, etc. I think CNET has it in their downloads section or you can search for "photology" in your favorite search engine.

Picasa's great and so is XNVIEW.com, FASTSTONE, and IRFANVIEW. There are so many superb desktop photo editors/tools out there these days!

Picasa without a doubt!! I've been using it for years and each time I make/edit a photo with a new choice (such as changing a pic to black and white and making a focal point in the middle of color) people absolutely love it and wonder how I did it. Little do they know all it takes is a few clicks of the mouse :-) Picasa also has many options to find your photos and import them automatically or manually and it sorts for you too (as long as you specify a few options). It will display all your photo folders and you can export your edits into a separate folder without losing any of your originals. Picasa has a ton of options to remove red eys, straighten pics (which I use after my kids take a few), crop, enlarge, sepia, black and white, saturation, brightness, contracst.......you name it, I think it's there. I really don't think I will change using Picasa. I absolutely love it and I recommend it to anyone who asks.
