I have Nero 7 Essentials. Here lately I've been having issues with it. Certain songs that I add in the process of making an audio disk give me an internal error message and then close the whole program. It's been updated as much as possible and it has really just got on my nerves.

Now I'm in the process of finding a new burning software hopefully one that's free. I tried IMGburn and really liked it all, except for the fact that it doesn't have a DVD copy feature where you can burn one disk directly to the other disk without it being put on hard drive first. This is a very important feature as it is quicker and saves space that I don't have. lol That's bad when you can afford to use 4 GB for a few minutes.

MAKEUSEOF VIDEO OF THE DAY
SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT

I also tried another I forgot what it was called but it was VERY SLOW. It took an hour and a half to copy whereas with Nero you can copy in 5 minuntes with quick copy.

Any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried several rip/copy software packages, some of which are mentioned above and ended up with DVDFAB.You can try it for free by going to DVDFAB.COMIt costs about £25 for the full registration and is regularly updated. What I did initially was to use the FULL free version until it expired, uninstall it and re-install it and use it over again. With DVDFAB, not only will it copy disc to disc but will copy to PSP format, mobile phones, pretty much any format you want. I chose it, primarily because of the difficulty in getting large capacity blank DVDs, with DVD Fab you can split to multiple discs or select the main movie only so it will fit on a standard 4.7Gb blank DVD.Hope this helps

I used to have similar problems with Nero, until I read somewhere that there could be a 'driver conflict' when you install other softwares having DVD burning functions like A Shampoo, Copy DVD, Photoslide makers , various Audio- Video converters & softwares etc etc. . Such programs too have DVD burning drivers. Unfortunately these drivers clash with Nero's drivers so that Nero has problems burning a DVD / CD.I uninstalled all such softwares & Nero does a fine job ( Itried Nero 6,7,8,9,10 vrsions). Now whenever I need the audio / video softwares I install them before use 7uninstall them after use.

I use CDBurnerXP (compatible with Vista/7 and DVDs despite the name), which has a 'Copy or grab disk' option. It works very well I'm sure there are plenty of other CD/DVD writing packages which work just as well.

So, let’s do it.Step 1: Make sure that you have installed DVD43 http://www.dvd43.com/.Step 2: Download and install DVD Shrink: This is the software that will copy the DVD contents to your hard drive and re-size it if necessary.http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/CD-DVD-Rip-Other-Tools/DVD-Shrink.shtmlStep 3: Download and install Image Burner: This is the tool that will used to “burn” the DVD. That is, copy the contents from your hard drive to a blank DVD.http://www.brothersoft.com/iso-image-burner-download-203631.htmlStep 4: With your movie in the DVD drive, Launch DVD Shrink. Choose “Open Disc” to make the contents of the disc appear. Then, click “Backup”. In the “Backup DVD” menu, under “Select Backup Target” choose “ISO Image File” and then take note of the location that appears under “Select Target Image File” as your see in the graphic below. This will copy the DVD to your hard drive and turn it into a DVD image–called an .ISO file–which we will then use in the next step to burn the DVD.Step 5: Take the movie out of the DVD and put in your blank DVD to the drive.Step 6: Launch Image Burner. Select the first choice: “Write Image File To Disk”. Click the icon to the right of “Please Select a File” and find the .ISO file that you noted above (by default, it will be c:movie-name). Finally, click the graphic that you see at the bottom of the window to begin the process of copying the files to your DVD.orhttp://forum.videohelp.com/threads/88155-How-to-copy-any-DVD-to-one-recordable-DVDThere should be some trial softwarehttp://www.magicdvdripper.com/dvd-copier.htmhttp://www.magicdvdripper.com/copy-dvd-to-dvd.htmEasy DVD Copyhttp://www.coolutils.com/easydvdcopyAnyDVD http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/CD-DVD-Rip-Other-Tools/AnyDVD.shtmlDVD Ghost It removes all kinds of restrictions(CSS, RPC Region code, RCE, APS, UOPS etc.) from the DVD discs in the background.http://www.region-free-dvd.com/1CLICK DVD COPYhttp://www.lgsoftwareinnovations.com/1clickdvdcopy.aspif you are interested there is a giveaway iSkysoft DVD Ripperhttp://www.techishare.com/tech-i-share-giveaway/giveaway-get-free-license-of-iskysoft-dvd-ripper-for-windows-review/

You can try out Ashampoo Burning Studio 6 which is mentioned as free and allows you to Copy straight from a DVD. Though, I haven't tried it personally, I hear it being recommended. We also have done quite a few posts on CD Burners. You might check out - The Best, Free Alternatives to Nero CD/DVD Burner

Right now, Ashampoo is giving away, totally free and without restriction, their Burning Studio 10, but only for a limited time. I use the 2009 version and love it. It's user friendly, and much lighter on resources than most! If you miss the free offer, their Burning Studio 6 is always available free, just Google Ashampoo Burning Studio 6. Also, while you're at the Ashampoo site, they are giving away 4 other programs as well! Heads up- the installer will ask you to install a toolbar, just uncheck the box, and proceed. Hope this helps.
