What are the best inexpensive external USB sound devices, sound cards for an HP 64-bit computer that comes with an equalizer? I do transcription and need clarity and quality. My new computer has a Realtec driver, but not a lot of flexibility in modifying.

Or you could take another route: instead of using very expensive hardware, you could use much less pricy software that could slow down audio playing without sacrificing the quality. Something like Capo in Mac. Combine it with a reasonable hardware and you are good to go.
