Which mail client will send and receive eMail from Yahoo (free one), Hotmail, and GMail? It should also provide step by step instructions for setting it up. Please help me!

If you store your email on an IMAP server (Gmail and AOL can do this, Yahoo and Hotmail can't) it is easy to try out different email clients to find out which one you like... You can also find instructions on www.Easy-Email.net for how to synchronize your email on multiple computers.

I would recommend Thunderbird. Pretty much every email client will work as long as POP or IMAP is available. But for gmail, here are detailed instructions for all it's email clients on how to set it uphttp://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&ctx=mail&answer=75726

If you are using Mac, Mail is a great email client. Under Windows, Outlook Express is also adequate enough for everyday users. I myself use Postbox (http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/postbox-for-mac-first-impressions/), available for both Mac and Windows, but it's not free.As for setting up the client, you might also want to look at the client's Help menu.

Like Steve said, Thunderbird is a great desktop mail client that will let you send and receive mail from Gmail and Hotmail (check out Tina's guide at http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-set-up-mozilla-thunderbird-3-multiple-email/). As far as I know, Yahoo! Mail can't be fetched unless you have Yahoo! Mail Plus, but there's a workaround called YPOPS that you can read about at http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/send-and-recieve-yahoo-mail-using-your-desktop-email-client/.If you want to integrate YPOPS with Thunderbird, read the set-up guide at http://ypopsemail.com/documentation/37-email-configuration/60-thunderbird.

Yeah, I gave Zimbra a try so that I could access/forward my Yahoo mail. But that client is excessively resource hungry and dogged down my laptop. Thanks, but I'll stick with Thunderbird.

Christina,Mozilla Thunderbird should be excellent for this. I also think Outlook would work quite well. Both programs have a lot of documentation online so if you need step-by-step instructions on how to do something, simply Google it or search our site.In fact, if you search MakeUseOf for 'email clients' you will find a lot of interesting articles that may prove useful.
