Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass has gained a lot of traction in the last few years, with some media outlets saying it's one of the best value-for-money game subscriptions available.

The service offers separate subscriptions for PC and Xbox consoles. Additionally, with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you get a plan tailored for both systems that include exclusive discounts and perks.

But is it worth it? Should you get the Xbox Game Pass? And which subscription plan should you opt for? Here, we list some of the reasons why you should sign up for the gaming service.

1. Access the Latest Game Titles Without Spending Much Money

Usually, you need to spend upwards of $50 to purchase a new game. While some games can have a lower launch price, most AAA titles cost about $100 or more to unlock everything.

With Xbox Game Pass (what is Xbox Game Pass?), you have access to several game titles, and you can play them without needing to make a separate purchase. Of course, you will need to shell out some money for premium content or DLCs, but you no longer need to spend to access the standard edition.

Note that not every game will be accessible through Xbox Game Pass. However, you should find plenty of new games from several game studios, including Microsoft Studios, Bethesda Studios, EA, and more.

If you play a few games once in a while, you may end up paying more with the Xbox Game Pass. So, you should evaluate your requirements before purchasing a subscription.

2. Day One Game Releases

If you do not prefer pre-ordering games, Xbox Game Pass has got you covered. Game Pass lets you play new releases on day one. You can check some upcoming releases via the Xbox website.

Any new title that belongs to the Xbox Game Studio should be available on the same day as the release. A couple of games from other studios may also get day-one release access at no extra cost.

3. Try Multiple Games With Ease

If you want to try different games, you will have to look for its available demo or purchase the game and then opt for a refund if you do not like it.

Unfortunately, not every game offers a demo version. Moreover, it is often a hassle to purchase and request a refund if you want to try games before deciding anything. In either case, you can end up downloading the pirated version to try the game (which is illegal and unsafe).

The Xbox Game Pass eliminates all the hassle and provides unrestricted access to a massive collection of games that you can try for free. Fret not; Microsoft constantly adds new games to its library every month. So, there’s no end to the number of games you can try for free.

4. Game Catalog

Game Pass lets you access a huge library of games, and the collection constantly grows monthly. The library features games ranging from competitive shooters to indie experiences.

If you dabble through multiple games and explore a wide range of content available, the Xbox Game Pass is for you.

5. Extra Perks & Discounts

A few things are exclusive to the game pass holders, like free in-game content, add-ons, and offers with up to a 50% discount.

Note that some perks are limited to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers only (like free in-game content and Xbox Live Gold). Free in-game content is always exciting, and an Xbox Live Gold provides you with an excellent multiplayer experience with two free games every month.

If you already have a PlayStation console, you may find it similar to PlayStation Plus. You can check out the differences between PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass to explore more.

6. EA Play

While EA Play is a separate subscription, it is included for free with the Xbox Game Pass PC and Ultimate plan.

So, the game pass makes sense if you want to access games by EA without needing to opt for a different subscription. We also have a guide on how to use EA Play with Xbox Game Pass, if you are curious.

7. Cross-Platform Play

Even though Microsoft provides separate subscription plans for consoles and PC users, you can choose the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription that gives you access to games on both systems.

This way, if you play games on both console and PC, you can enjoy many titles with a single subscription. Hence, it should prove to be a convenient option.

Should You Get Xbox Game Pass?

If you plan to play multiple game titles, the Xbox Game Pass, whether for PC or console, should be worth it.

However, you must evaluate your requirements when choosing the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Unless you have both a console and PC and enjoy playing multiplayer games, the ultimate plan may not be a fitting choice.
