The gas and diesel powered variants of the Ram pickup truck are among the most competent trucks on the market. Both are solid performers and the heavy-duty diesel version is an absolute workhorse. Ram's trucks also feature some of the best interiors on the market—and not just compared to other pickup trucks.

Excitingly, Ram is launching its first electric truck at the end of 2024, the 1500 REV. But the company is also teasing beyond that with the Ram Revolution Concept. This visionary full-sized EV pickup is, as the name suggests, a concept that isn't available for purchase, but it lays the groundwork for the brand's future.

These are the features of the Ram Revolution Concept that we're most excited about, many of which have the potential to revolutionize electric vehicles.

1. Autonomous Wireless Robot Charger

The Ram Revolution Concept has one of the coolest accompanying features of any concept car ever: a tiny robot charger that autonomously drives underneath the car and charges it via inductive charging. Handily, the robot can avoid any obstacles it encounters on the way.

Developed by EFI Automotive and branded the Ram Charger by Stellantis, the innovation is a real product slated for release in 2025.

It's safe to assume the Ram Charger will have smart charging capabilities, along with built-in connectivity options to program remote charging sessions while you're away. With support for the Ram Charger, the Revolution will easily place among the best electric pickup trucks for sale if it enters production.

2. Powered Front Trunk for Added Practicality

A front trunk (frunk) is standard fare across most electric SUVs at this point, but Ram delivers by including one in the Revolution. Although, the Revolution's frunk does have a few tricks up its sleeve. First, you can access the cabin through a convenient pass-through. There are also useful partitions that open up to secure items that you slide through the opening.

Ram has even provided hooks to secure whatever it is you're carrying in the frunk and these hooks retract out of sight when no longer in use. Finally, another almost obligatory EV pickup truck feature is present in the Ram: it has on-board power outlets located in the frunk.

3. Front Trunk Pass-Through for Expanded Storage

The Ram Revolution features a pass-through from the frunk to the passenger compartment. This is useful if you're carrying really long objects. When you consider that you can remove the center console, you have a pass-through from the bed, into the cabin, and out into the frunk.

While the Rivian R1T trumps the Tesla Cybertruck, it's safe to say the Revolution bests them both, especially when it comes to pass-through storage.

4. Barn-Style Opening Doors for Easier Entry

The Ram Revolution seems to have one seriously spacious cabin, and the Rolls-Royce style doors dramatically highlight this effect. With rear-hinged doors and no B-pillar, the doors open opposite each other to create a massive opening that allows for easy entrance into the cabin.

The pillarless design gives the cabin an airy, spacious feel. The sad part is that this feature is unlikely to make it to production; it might be too impractical for a truck ultimately meant for work-purposes. Although, if Ram really wants to go all out, it should bring this design to market regardless.

5. Ram Track Rail System for Extra Flexibility

This might be the most impressive feature of the Ram Revolution. If Ram intends to bring any of the Revolution's innovative features to market, the rail system has to be the one that makes it. The entire cabin floor is lined with rails; the seats, as well as the center console, can slide back and forward using this system.

It's especially cool that the center console has the ability to slide, as this should provide immense customizability of the cabin. The seats can also be reconfigured using the Ram Track system.

In a work truck, you want all the versatility you can get when it comes to organizing cargo, and the Ram Revolution delivers. This level of versatility is one of the advantages that EV pickup trucks have over conventional pickups.

6. Room for More People With Third-Row Jumpseats

The Ram Revolution isn't just a practical work truck, it's also an excellent people hauler. The interior is ultra-customizable; it even features smaller seats for the third-row. These tiny seats might not be the most comfortable alternatives for long-distance travel, but they allow the Revolution to seat more people with ease.

7. Useful Midgate for Extra Access

The Ram Revolution is an enormous pickup truck, but if for some reason what you're carrying doesn't fit in the bed, this practical EV truck has you covered. It incorporates a folding midgate that grants the driver access from the bed into the cabin area. This is super useful for carrying around longer objects and will work perfectly in tandem with the cabin pass-through for the front trunk.

8. Split Tailgate for Added Versatility

The tailgate on the Ram Revolution has a really neat trick. It's not your regular tailgate that's limited to opening downwards. This tailgate can swoop down like a traditional one, but it can also split in half to allow for different types of access.

Splitting the tailgate also gives the Ram Revolution the ability to extend the useable size of the bed. With work trucks, versatility is key, and no other truck can compete with the amount of functionality the Ram Revolution brings to the table.

9. Extendable Truck Bed for Those Extra-Long Loads

The Ram Revolution has a split-opening tailgate, which allowed Ram to create an extendable truck bed. When the tailgate is open in its split setting, it has built-in doors that close off the extended area, effectively creating a massive super-bed. This storage area is extra-large and should be one of the features that makes it to production, just based off pure functionality.

10. RamBox Technology Provides a Useful Storage Solution

The Ram Revolution Concept features the popular RamBox, a feature already available on the regular Ram truck. The RamBox is an awesome storage area conveniently located on the sides of the truck's bed. This storage area is weatherproof and lockable, so you can store your items in the RamBox with peace of mind.

The RamBox is the perfect storage area for tools that you'll use on the construction site. Since the space is drainable, it can even be used as a cooler if you decide to fill it with ice. This means the RamBox is perfect for people that use their truck as their primary workhorse, or even beach-goers that need a cooler on the fly.

The Ram Revolution Is a Feature-Rich Pickup Truck

Ram might be late to the EV pickup truck party, but it's developing an excellent product. If the production version can conserve at least 80% of what the concept brings, it will be a massive hit, and possibly the best EV pickup truck on the market. One thing is for sure: the feature-rich Rivian R1T is going to face stiff competition from Ram.
