If you use Google Tasks on the web, you can now add more details to your tasks with ease. There's no more need to click the Details button to edit a task, as you can now edit your tasks inline on the web.

Google Gets Rid of the "Details" Option in Tasks

Google announced on its Workspace Updates blog that it's removing the Details button from Google Tasks on the web. This means you no longer need to click a button to be able to add more details to a task; you can do this right from the main tasks screen.

If you now head to Google Tasks, you can single click a task to give it a description as well as assign it a time and date. The Details button has been converted into an inline editing mode.

Although Google says this feature is only available to Workspace, G Suite Basic, and Business customers, we found it working in our free Gmail account, too.

How to Add More Details to a Task in Google Tasks

To use the new inline editing mode, access Google Tasks in your browser. Most people may want to do this from their Gmail interface.

Then, select a task in the tasks list. Your task should expand allowing you to add more information. Like before, fill in the fields and you're all set.
