In Windows XP, when arrange icons is not set to auto-arrange, we can put icons in any row and column in the window of that particular drive. But in Windows 7, this feature is only limited to the desktop. I was in a habit to put different folders in separate rows and columns in Windows XP , now I switched to Windows 7 and I am missing that feature.

Hello, have a look at the following link. There are two ways of accomplishing this. If you use the reg file make sure to back up registry first. I think this xp option is removed from windows 7.But it looks like this article enables the option :http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/disable-auto-arrange-folders-windows-7It includes registry editing, so be careful.
