The ease and convenience of downloading games digitally have led to a massive increase in sales of digital games over the past few years. And with the release of the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition which don’t feature a disk drive at all, these sales are only going to continue to rise.

But with a console full of potentially hundreds of digital-only titles, it’s easy to lose track of what games you have. Gamers need a logical way to sort their titles to avoid losing them in the backlog forever. This is where gamelists come in.

What Are Gamelists on the PS5?

Gamelists on the PS5 allow you to create folders to help you easily sort your games. These folders are fully customizable, so you can sort your games however you would like.

You can rename your gamelists to sort your titles by genre, year of release, or even what you want to play next. You can have up to 15 gamelists, each containing up to 100 games.

By default, your games will be displayed in a list format on your PS5. Sorting your games in folders like these saves you from scrolling through your entire library in order to find a single game. And the less time you spend looking for your games, the more time you have to play them!

So if you would like to create gamelists to keep your PS5 games organized, here’s how.

How to Create a Gamelist

The first thing you should do before creating your own gamelists to organize your PS5 is make sure your console is updated. The gamelist feature was not available at launch, so if you haven’t updated your console since it was introduced, then you might not be able to make use of this feature.

To update your PS5, press the PS button on your controller and scroll to Downloads/Uploads. If an update is available, select it and follow the on-screen prompts to install the update.

You will also need to update your PS5 DualSense controller from time to time. You can do so from the console or your PC. Check out our guide on how to update your PS5 controller from your PC to learn how.

Once your PS5 has successfully updated, follow the instructions below to curate your gamelists.

  1. Open up your library by going to your home page, scrolling to the right, and selecting Games Library.
  2. Scroll to the right and select Your Collection.
  3. Select the Create Gamelist icon on the left-hand side of the screen.

How to Add and Remove Games From a Gamelist

PS5 gamelists were created with customization in mind. So making any changes to your gamelist, like adding or removing games, for example, is very simple. If you want to add a game to your folder, open up the gamelist you would like to edit and select the + icon on the left side.

To remove a game, hover over it, press the burger button on your controller, and select Remove from Gamelist. You can also launch or delete games from within this menu.
