I'm planning to buy an assembled desktop soon. I decided to stick to 2nd Generation Intel i5 Processor, costing around $215. I checked the Intel site and got two processors of my choice, Intel i5-2500 and Intel i5-2500K. But the specification and price difference made me confused.
Intel i5-2500 has Intel® vPro Technology, Intel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d), Intel® Trusted Execution Technology which is unavailable in Intel i5-2500k. But the price of Intel i5-2500k is higher ($216) than Intel i5-2500 ($205).
I don't have any idea of the above three specifications. Which one should I choose? Please see offers here.

Keep in mind that 2.5k is a better processor, and you can even overclock it if you want..

The difference seems to be a slightly better integrated video chip. I'd spend the $11 bucks for the (slight bit) extra 3D performance that even OS like to use these days. Also as noted, you can overclock that proc if that's your kind of thing.

It all depends on how you intend to use the system. If you will be running virtual machines on this computer using VirtualBox or VMware, the 2500 is the better choice. If it will be used more for gaming, the 2500K is the better option since the on-chip video is better.

If you will use this for gaming, then the on chip video is useless since you're gonna use a dedicated graphic card....For 10 $ difference, definitely go for the 2500K version: the unlocked multiplier is a very nice thing, you can go at 4.3 Ghz on air giving a very nice boost on its overall performance, especially gaming.Again, for 10$ difference there is no point going for the 2500.
