I want to buy a PC for gaming and using Adobe software like After Effects and Premiere Pro. If Intel's Core i5 and i7 are excluded, what are the best choices among processors?

the Core i7-2600K quad / eight threads (with Hyper-Threading enabled) is 25% faster than the Core i5-2500K quad / four threads (without Hyper-Threading).http://www.anandtech.com/show/4083/the-sandy-bridge-review-intel-core-i7-2600k-i5-2500k-core-i3-2100-tested/21

Is this true that core 2 quad is a lot faster than than core i3 ? I am confused which to buy because if I buy core i3 , it is slower and if I buy core 2 quad, it is an old technology. Tell me which one I should go for?

You must go for Intel core i3 as Intel retires its CPU if it becomes 1 year old and so becomes outdated.Always prefer new products. You can also pair your chosen CPU with a powerful GPU which will give you a good performance as today there are many GPU accelerated softwares.

The Intel Core i3-2100 will offer the best gaming performance and do very well in Photoshop, as well. It's only dual-core, but because Intel's per-clock performance is so high, that doesn't ding its overall performance much. Then of course you have the AMD FX line, but most of those are just as expensive as a Core i5/i7, so I'm not sure why you'd buy them unless you're taking a moral stance again Intel. A cheaper option is the FX-4100, a quad core for $119. Gaming performance will trail the Core i3 but a large margin, but the extra cores will obviously help in multi-threaded applications.Of the two, I recommend the Core i3-2100.

Hello, any of the AMD LLano processors will do good. Especially the A8 3850 APU. You can use the incorporated graphics card in processor combined with a discreet card. Best thing is that you can get it way cheaper than intel processors. The A8 3850, has four processors with hyper threading and it is also compatible with USB 3.
