I own a Dell E510 that came w/ a GWA4164B DVD drive.

No problems w/ CDs, burned DVDs and usually not software ROMs. However, when TRYING to play a store-purchased DVD, it'll spin, spin, spin, stop. Nothing.

I've looked in countless places across the WWW for a solution; some say it's a common problem (apparently with as many posts as there are about it) some say it's a simple firmware prob that can be fixed w/ a measly D/L from Dell...nope.

I'm at my wit's end and am ready to slingshot the whole thing through Dell's front window.

Did you try different DVD players? What happens when you 'Explore' the DVD files and try opening the source audio files directly (using sa VLC or any other media player)
