I have certain programs and sidebar gadgets in Windows 7 that start up on login. I want to prevent some of these programs from starting only when I'm on battery. They should run when the laptop is plugged in, but shouldn't when it|s on battery.

Is there any application for that? I've found a program "Battery Care" which disables gadgets but not specific programs.

Chameleon Startup Manager allows you to create custom startup configurations. such as work or games. you can use the program to pick which configuration you want to run the next time you start windows OR at windows startup screen you can choose which configuration you want to have loaded. unfortuantely this last feature of choosing the configuration at startup up menu is only available with the standard or professional version. from the page i reviewed, the standard edition starts out at $24.95 and professional at $29.95. here is link to a demo of the program http://www.chameleon-managers.com/windows-startup-manager/demo/ here is a link to the features comparison page of the program http://www.chameleon-managers.com/windows-startup-manager/windows-startup-config.phpthis should be what you were looking for.

As far as I know it can not. However, it can be stopped, which could be an option when starting up with the battery.

Hello, have you tried Aerofoil?  I know it can help you out with gadgets and other stuff, but I am not sure about program in startup.  Here is the link: http://silentdevelopment.blogspot.com/2009/10/aerofoil-150-released.html

Thanks Fidelis.I checked out the link you posted and it seems it pretty much does the same thing that "battery care" does. It doesn't let you control individual programs for e.g. uTorrent.Tell me if I'm wrong.
