Google has finally scheduled the launch event for the Pixel 6. It will take place on October 19, 2021, with the public able to live stream the official unveiling of Google's latest flagship online.

As is now customary in the industry, many of the Pixel 6's new features and its specs are not a secret, with various leaks revealing what to expect weeks ahead of launch.

So, with that in mind, here's what we know so far...

Pixel 6 vs. Pixel 6 Pro

There will be two versions of the Pixel 6. The Pro version will have a larger screen, a higher maximum storage capacity, better front- and rear-facing cameras, and a bigger battery.

More differences between the two models are likely to be revealed on October 19.

How Good Is the Pixel 6 Camera?

In a world of diminishing improvements between annual phone releases, many consumers immediately look to the camera to decide whether or not a new phone is worth buying.

It looks like the Pixel 6 will have a 50MP rear camera wide-angle and will offer 12MP for ultra-wide shots. The front camera will be 8MP.

The Pixel 6 Pro also offers 50MP for wide shots and 12MP for ultra-wide but also has a 48MP tele camera. The selfie camera on the Pro is also a step up, offering 12MP rather than the standard 8MP.

What About the New Tensor Chip?

Perhaps the most exciting development is the inclusion of the all-new Tensor chip. It was designed from scratch and has a specific focus on supporting artificial intelligence (AR) and machine learning (ML) apps.

Experts hope it will provide the most potent AR/ML experience ever seen on a phone, with an ability to influence everything from your phone's camera to translation apps.

Despite the excitement, leaks suggest it will not be as powerful as the Snapdragon 888 or Apple A15 Bionic.

How Good Is the Pixel 6 Display?

The basic Pixel 6 will have a 6.4-inch full HD+ screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 6 Pro steps that up to 6.7 inches, QHD, and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Reportedly, the refresh rate on the Pro will be able to drop to 10Hz to save your battery, much like the Apple iPhone 13 Pro.

How Much Will the Pixel 6 Cost?

Again, we will have to wait until October 19 for the official price, but rumors suggest the Pixel 6 will start at $799, while the Pixel 6 Pro will start at $1,049.

It is thought that the Pixel 6 will be available in 128GB and 256GB versions, with the Pro also offering a 512GB model. The more storage you require, the more you can expect to pay.

The Pixel 6 will be available in stores from October 28, 2021. There is not yet a release date for the Pro version.

What Colors Does the Pixel 6 Come In?

In terms of the color options, we can only glean information from Google's advertising and promotional images. If we use those as a guide, we can expect the Pixel 6 to be available in black, light green, and pink. It appears that the Pro will come in black, white, or yellow.

Additional colors might also be available at launch.

What Else Do You Need to Know About the Pixel 6?

There are a few other points that would-be buyers need to know about.

First, neither model will have a 3.5mm headphone jack. Secondly, images appear to suggest that the fingerprint reader will return to the front of the device rather than the rear. Thirdly, nano SIMs and eSIMs will be supported. And last but not least, wireless fast charging will be available on both models.
