Pioneer DJ Releases VM-Series Monitor Speakers

Pioneer DJ has released a range of monitor speakers that provide "clear, accurate sound across all frequencies with fast response for DJing and making music." The monitors in question are the VM-series, and they sound pretty neat on paper.

There are three models in the series, the VM-50, the VM-70, and the VM-80, and they are available via a range of retailers, both online and offline. If you want to find a local bricks and mortar store, then just head to the PioneerDJ.com shop search page and type in your location.

The different models represent different sizes of speakers. So, the VM-50 is a five-inch speaker, the VM-70 is a seven-inch speaker, and the VM-80 a beefy eight-inch monitor. They're also available in either black or white colorways.

So What Are the VM-Series Speakers All About?

Well, as mentioned, these read like an excellent pair of home studio speakers. On the one side, they can act as monitors, providing a flat frequency response for producers and bedroom DJs.

On the other, they are also excellent party speakers, as the digital signal processing capabilities mean they're great for providing a club sound, with accentuated basslines to remind you of your favorite sweat-drenched dance space.

Pioneer DJ says this:

Leaping forward from the popular Pioneer DJ S-DJX speakers, the brand-new design of the VM series units includes high-quality components and innovative features to deliver pure audio. With flat voicing, Class D amplifiers, and Aramid fiber cones, they accurately reproduce sounds from their original sources, including deep low-end frequencies thanks to the Vortex Bass Accelerator.

I'll be having myself some of that Vortex Bass Accelerator action in my home DJ setup, thank you very much. Discussing the construction of the speakers, the popular DJ audio brand says:

The fresh design of the 4 mm-thick aluminum front baffle not only looks slick, but also helps to cut out unwanted vibrations. And, thanks to DSP control, you can easily tune the speakers to the room you use them in. Whether you’re working in a compact space at home or a larger, professional studio, you can choose from 16 EQ settings to find the perfect sound for the room.

So, it would seem like these sound boxes can pack quite the punch, irrespective of the space you set them up in.

Are You a DJ or Producer?

What do you make of Pioneer DJ's new speaker range? Admit it, they look the part and, on paper and without testing them, they sound the part too. Pioneer DJ is well-known for its DJ ecosystem, so we can go from experience and say they're likely to sound swell.

If you are creating your own mixes at home, then you probably want to record those. Fortunately, aside from Pioneer DJ's own app, Rekordbox, there are plenty of apps available to get that mix down (although I'm sure Pioneer DJ would recommend Rekordbox).
