In an effort to promote positivity on Pinterest, the platform is launching the Creator Code, a set of mandatory rules that encourage kindness. Pinterest hopes that the Creator Code will keep negativity at bay, all while helping Pinterest remain a supportive environment for all users.

The Creator Code Makes Kindness a Rule

Pinterest outlined the main takeaways from its Creator Code in a post on the Pinterest Newsroom. Before creators can post Story Pins, they'll be required to accept the Creator Code's guidelines.

The Creator Code discourages misinformation and urges creators to fact-check their content before posting. It also requires creators to keep their posts kind and inclusive, as well as aims to prevent users from posting potentially harmful or triggering content.

Pinterest notes that the Creator Code will officially be rolled out in the coming weeks. You can read the Code in its entirety on Pinterest's Creator Code page.

Aside from the Creator Code, Pinterest is also planning to offer a Creator Fund to help "elevate Creators from underrepresented communities through financial and educational support." Pinterest is currently working with a diverse group of creators as a part of this initiative, and has provided them with creative training and ad credits to give them a jump-start on Pinterest.

Pinterest Also Introduces More Moderation Tools

To supplement the Creator Code, Pinterest is also giving creators new moderation options. These new tools enable creators to easily remove certain types of content, as well as filter out specific keywords.

And to prevent negative content from appearing on the platform in the first place, Pinterest is rolling out Positivity Reminders for all users. This will ask users to rethink posting offensive content, and will encourage them to read Pinterest's content guidelines. Other social platforms, like Twitter, have already launched a feature to combat rude replies.

In addition, Pinterest is giving creators the ability to feature three comments on their comment feeds to showcase positive feedback. This may help set a good example for other users who are looking to leave a comment of their own, and can help promote positivity on Pinterest in general.

Pinterest Works Towards Becoming a More Positive and Inclusive Platform

It's safe to say that social platforms can often turn into hubs for toxicity. The worst part is, many rude comments are often glossed over, and aren't removed by moderators.

Hopefully, Pinterest's Positivity Reminders and the Creator Code will help prevent any offensive content from being published, whether by creators or standard users.
