The first thing you have to do is upload the picture you want to edit into Picsart. If you don't have the app yet, you can download it below.

1. Remove the Background

Once your image is in Picsart's edit mode, look for the Remove Background tool, and after a few seconds of processing, the background will disappear; if you're not satisfied with the result, you can refine the image using the eraser.

Now choose a new, romantic background. You can upload your own image, create one using Picsart's AI Background, or find one through the Unsplash or Picsart image library. Alternatively, you can just replace the background with a color, like pink or red, to match the Valentine's Day theme.

2. Add a Valentine's Day Frame

Adding a frame is optional, but it gives your photo card that extra element that takes it from good to great. Tap Frame and search for anything relating to Valentine's Day, like love, hearts, romantic, or the name of the holiday itself.

If you don't see one you like, or if you don't have a Picsart subscription, you can also use the heart shape mask under Shape Mask, which will frame your picture with a heart.

3. Insert a Romantic Message

Tell your Valentine how much you care. Start by tapping Text, and you can insert your own message, poem, or romantic words.

You could also let Picsart's AI Writer generate the words for you with a simple description. You want to keep it fairly brief so that it doesn't take away from the rest of the photo card, so remember to include "short" before the rest of the description.

4. Fit the Image Onto a Valentine’s Day Background

Fitting the image onto another background is what will give the photo card the illusion of being real. Tap Fit, decide the dimensions, and then scroll through the Picsart gallery or Unsplash library for a Valentine's background. You can also choose a color background for something simple, or upload an image of your own.

With this step, you want to make sure you use the Shadow tool on your framed image because this is what creates the 3D effect.

5. Add Valentine's Day Stickers

Using the Stickers tool, add some hearts, cupids, or other stickers inspired by the holiday of love. Picsart offers premium subscription-only ones, but you also have access to stickers uploaded by other users on the Discover page, and you can create your own stickers too.

6. Overlay With a Heart Brush

Brush over your photo card for one final touch of love using the Brushes tool. There are plenty of heart options to choose from, like neon hearts and rainbow hearts, but you can add anything you think will spice up your photo card. Here, we have added heart bubbles and clouds.

If you don't see a brush you like, you can also draw your own shapes with the manual brush options Picsart offers; choose from a solid line, a dashed line, or a neon line brush.

A Digital Display of Love

The cool thing about creating a digital Valentine's Day photo card is that your loved one can store it digitally forever, but they could also print it out and display it. Whatever they decide to do, it's a reminder of the love and effort you put in for them.
