I've recently purchased and installed a PCI-E card in order to add more USB 3.0 ports to my desktop. The only problem is that when I'm transferring large amounts of data to an external hard drive (typically GBs of music and movies) the card stops working and disconnects my hard drive and devices.

The devices still work of course, but only when plugged into other usb ports. The only way I can get them working through the PCI card again is if I restart the computer.

I'm just curious as to what causes this and if I should return the card. So far, I've had no trouble with it in the past couple of days.
