I have got an iMac G3 that has crashed and needs to be rebuilt. I no longer have the installation CD, but have downloaded the ISO. If I burn this ISO to a disc on my Windows XP or Linux Ubuntu 9.10 machines, will it work as an installation CD on the iMac?

Mac OS X Lion won't work on a iMac G3PowerPC support was dropped with Snow Leopard therefor the last possible version would be Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard (10.5.8 being the latest release)In general the ISO burned to CD/DVD should work for installing your iMac. Just make sure you downloaded an actual Mac installation ISO and not one of those OSx86 distros.
