OnePlus has already confirmed that alongside the OnePlus 9 series, it will also unveil its first smartwatch at an event on March 23. Ahead of the event, the company teamed up with YouTuber Unbox Therapy to share a render of the OnePlus Watch.

OnePlus is known to tease its products before their official unveiling by releasing renders and gradually detailing their key specs.

The OnePlus Watch Will Look Similar to Samsung's Galaxy Watch Active 2

The OnePlus Watch render shared by Unbox Therapy and later retweeted by OnePlus shows off the smartwatch's circular design. From the render, the watch looks very similar to Samsung's Galaxy Watch Active 2, something which other people on Twitter have also pointed out.

OnePlus' CEO Pete Lau has also confirmed that the OnePlus Watch will not run Wear OS. Instead, the smartwatch will be running a "smart wear operating system" based on RTOS (Real-time Operating System). This will allow the OnePlus Watch to offer better battery life, usually a pain point of Wear OS smartwatches.

OnePlus going with RTOS for the OnePlus Watch also means that the smartwatch will miss out on Google Play Store support. It is also unclear if OnePlus will open the platform to third-party developers or not.

Key specs of the OnePlus Watch have already leaked. The smartwatch will be available in 46mm casing size and feature IP68 certification for dust and water-resistance. It will pack 4GB of storage, SpO2 sensor for monitoring blood saturation levels, sleep tracking, stress level, and more.

A Full Week's Battery Life in 20 Minutes

Just like how OnePlus smartphones are known for their fast charging speeds, the OnePlus Watch will also feature Warp Charge support. Thanks to this, a 20-minute charge will be good enough to offer a full week of battery life.

OnePlus is scheduled to unveil the OnePlus 9 series and OnePlus Watch on March 23.
