OnePlus has officially unveiled the OnePlus Nord 2, its latest mid-range offering packing a 90Hz display and a powerful MediaTek chipset. The OnePlus Nord 2 is the successor to the popular mid-range OnePlus Nord from last year.

Despite a mid-range smartphone that's substantially cheaper than the more expensive OnePlus 9 series, the OnePlus Nord 2 packs many of the features found on its more premium siblings.

OnePlus Nord 2 Specs and Features

The OnePlus Nord 2 features a polycarbonate frame that's sandwiched by Gorilla Glass 5 panels at the front and back. The front is dominated by the 6.43-inch FHD+ 90Hz AMOLED display that also features an in-display fingerprint scanner. There's also an Alert Slider located on the right edge of the device.

Inside the OnePlus phone is MediaTek's flagship Dimensity 1200 chip fabricated on the 6nm mode. This is the first time that OnePlus is using a non-Qualcomm chip in one of its devices.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chip features an octa-core CPU consisting of four Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores @ 2GHz. One high-power Cortex-A78 core is clocked at 3GHz, while the remaining three are running at 2.6GHz.

This is paired with the Mali-G77 MP9 GPU and the Helio M70 modem that supports sub-6GHz 5G networks. The OnePlus Nord 2 will be available with 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage.

Powering the device is a 4,500mAh battery, which supports 65W Warp Charging. This means you'll be able to charge the OnePlus Nord 2 from 0-100 percent in less than 35 minutes.

The rear of the OnePlus Nord 2 houses a triple-camera setup. This includes a primary Sony IMX766 50MP f/1.8 sensor with OIS, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide, and a 2MP monochrome sensor. The primary 50MP sensor is the same one that OnePlus also uses on its flagship OnePlus 9 Pro. At the front, there's a 32MP f/2.45 Sony IMX615 camera for selfie purposes.

Other key features of the OnePlus Nord 2 include dual stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, USB-C port, and dual nano-SIM slots. On the software front, the OnePlus Nord 2 runs on OxygenOS 11.3 with some new gaming features in tow. The phone will receive two major Android updates and three years of security updates from OnePlus.

This is the first phone from OnePlus to launch after it announced its deeper merger with OPPO to deliver faster software updates.
