The OnePlus 11 is the company's 2023 flagship device. As you might expect, the device packs several improvements over the OnePlus 10 series that launched in 2022.

If you were still second guessing whether the device is worth the upgrade, here are the best features that the OnePlus 11 offers that might make it worth your attention.

1. Flagship-Grade Processor

As the company's flagship phone of 2023, OnePlus didn't hold back. It chose the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Qualcomm's flagship chip, to power the OnePlus 11. This is the same chip you'll find on most flagship phones in 2023. It's a 4nm chip made of 8 CPU cores, including a prime core with up to 3.2GHz, four 2.8GHz performance cores, and three efficiency cores clocking at 2.0GHz.

According to Qualcomm, the Gen 2 sports an improvement in all the right spots including a 35% CPU and 25% GPU performance boost while being 40% more efficient in CPU speed and GPU rendering than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip.

If you plan to play Android games, the chip has real-time hardware accelerated ray tracing, which ensures a more realistic rendering of objects in a game by optimizing lighting, shadows, reflections, and more.

2. Big, High Resolution, High Refresh Rate Display

The OnePlus 11 features a big 6.7-inch AMOLED LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the LTPO display technology, the device can dynamically adjust the refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz depending on what you're doing, to ensure a smooth experience and better battery life.

Another important feature of the display is its brightness, which maxes out at 1300 nits peak brightness, ensuring a better viewing experience outdoors. The display has QHD+ resolution (1440 x 3216 pixels) with a 525 pixels-per-inch density that should guarantee more crisp images. Surprisingly, the OnePlus 11 beats Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra's 500 ppi.

The display also has other bells and whistles, including support for Dolby Vision, HDR 10+, sRGB, 10-bit color depth, display P3, and up to a 1000Hz touch response rate. Put all of this together, and you get one of the best displays on a smartphone that you can get as of writing.

3. High Capacity Battery

It's true, large battery capacity doesn't always equate to good battery life. But, as it stands in the smartphone world, good battery life starts with having adequate battery capacity.

The 5000mAh battery on the OnePlus 11 is a good start. When you consider it's using a power-efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, the chances of having mediocre battery life are dramatically reduced.

4. Very Fast Charging Support

One of the major selling points of the OnePlus 11 is support for blazing fast 100W wired charging. According to the company, the device only takes 10 minutes to juice up its large 5000mAh battery from empty to 50% and perform a full charge in 25 minutes.

While not the fastest charging speed, 100W is impressive, even by modern-day standards. However, if you're in the US or India, the OnePlus 11 will max out at 80W. 100W is only available in other parts of the world.

That's a bummer, for sure, but we can bet that there are not a lot of phones in people's pockets around the world that support anything beyond 65W fast charging.

Unlike most flagship phones, OnePlus includes a power brick and a USB-C cable, so you don't have to pay extra on top of the phone's $699 price tag.

5. Fast Memory and Storage

The OnePlus 11 ships with 8, 12, or 16GB of memory. The 8GB version is paired with 128GB of storage, the 12GB with 256GB, and the 16GB model with either 256 or 512GB. But storage is not enough; OnePlus uses the best UFS 4.0 storage and LPDDR5X RAM technology for even better performance.

UFS 4.0 doubles the sequential read speeds from 2100MB/s in UFS 3.1 to 4200MB/s and bumps up write speeds from 1200MB/s to 2800MB/s. You also get a maximum bandwidth of 23.2Gbps per lane, twice that of UFS 3.1.

The base model with 128GB uses UFS 3.1 technology. If you want better read and write speeds, you'll have to dig deeper in your pockets for the 12/256GB variant or higher.

You will experience faster operations in day-to-day life, especially when copying and pasting files. Additionally, the amount of time it takes from the time you tap to open a file till it opens should also improve due to UFS 4.0 technology. And with LPDDR5X memory and the flagship chip, OnePlus 11 is well-equipped to perform better in real-life use.

6. Alert Slider

OnePlus 11 has an Alert Slider, a physical button on the right-hand side of the device, allowing you to easily switch between ring, mute, or vibration modes. If you've been an ardent OnePlus fan, you'll remember that the company controversially removed the button on the OnePlus 10T.

In case you're wondering whether the OnePlus 11T might also remove the button, there's no such phone incoming. OnePlus is dropping the "Pro" moniker on its flagship phones and the company won't launch a "T" variant in the second half of the year either, as it has done for the past few years.

7. Longer Software Support to Match Samsung

Software support has become critical as ever as it guarantees that you can safely use your phone for longer without being forced to upgrade. Starting with the OnePlus 11, the company has pledged to offer four major Android updates along with five years of security-only updates.

That's on par with Samsung, currently the best smartphone company for Android updates. OnePlus ships with OxygenOS 13 based on Android 13 out of the box, so the phone will receive major updates until Android 17 in 2026. And on top of that, you'll get an extra year of security-only Android updates.

Should You Buy the OnePlus 11?

OnePlus 11 marks the company's return to its flagship-killer days. For just $699, or $100 cheaper than the base Galaxy S23, OnePlus delivers better value for money on the device without compromising so much.

However, despite its relatively big battery with up to 100W fast charging support, 6.7-inch QHD+ 120Hz LTPO panel, and more, it isn't all rainbows and sunshine.

For instance, there's no wireless charging, no e-SIM support, the phone is IP64-rated instead of IP68, and the phone doesn't have the best build quality. If you care about these, this device isn't for you.
