Samsung is rolling One UI 3.1 out to various devices, including bringing Galaxy S21 features to older Galaxy devices.

Now, the company is bringing One UI 3.1 to the expensive Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. With it, Samsung brings a host of new features and changes, including improvements to multitasking on the dual-screen phone.

What Does One UI 3.1 Bring to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2?

Samsung posted on its newsroom regarding the latest update to the Galaxy Z Fold 2, and it sounds like it'll be a great update for anyone who purchased the phone. The main multitasking improvement comes in the form of bringing two Multi-Active Windows from the Main Screen to the Cover Screen via the Recents tab, which makes flipping between the larger internal screen to the external screen a more streamlined process.

Additionally, One UI 3.1 adds the ability to launch Multi-Active Windows from notifications in the Quick Panel. To use this new feature, you need to long-press, then drag and drop the relevant notification to open apps with Multi-Active Window.

Outside of multitasking, Samsung is also bringing some usability improvements. Now that the phone has been out in users' hands for a while, Samsung has learned what sorts of things users need when handling such a large phone.

One such update is that you no longer need to reach for the power button to turn off the screen. Now, there's a feature called Palm touch. It can turn off both the Cover and Main Screen with a touch of the palm or a double-tap.

Samsung is also improving the usability of the camera app in Flex mode. Now, you can adjust the controls' position for greater comfort, which is crucial with such a large device. Samsung also added a Delete and Share button to the preview window in Flex mode.

One UI 3.1 is also making it so notifications in the Quick Panel are now categorized. You can also switch between different media controls in the Quick Panel by swiping.

Video calls are also set to improve. Now, when making a video call in Flex mode, you can fill the top half of the display with the video of the person you are speaking to.

All in all, it's a substantial update that should make using the device far more enjoyable.

When Will One UI 3.1 Come to the Galaxy Z Fold 2?

The update should be rolling out at any time, so there's a chance it might already be available for your device. If it is, you can start taking advantage of these massive usability improvements right now.
