Does your Oculus Quest 2 leave you with an itchy face after wearing the headset for a long period of time? If so, there's a good chance your body is reacting to the headset's foam, and Oculus is helping fix this problem by giving out free face masks to ease the irritation.

Oculus' Big Recall for Quest 2 Owners

The VR technology company announced its plans on the Oculus website. Unfortunately, a small percentage of Oculus Quest 2 users have noticed that they get itchy skin when using the headset. As such, the company is issuing a recall to solve the problem.

The recall is part of an agreement between Oculus and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. As such, anyone who owns a Quest 2 headset, Quest 2 facial interface accessory, or a Quest 2 Fit Pack can benefit from this recall.

However, despite being called a "recall," you don't actually need to send your headset back. Instead, you can give Oculus your address, and the VR company will send you a free silicone cover that protects your skin from the foam.

If you're using your Quest 2 without suffering from skin issues, you don't necessarily need to do anything. However, if you have noticed some irritation while using the Oculus Quest 2, it's recommended that you stop use immediately and order a cover.

Fortunately, any country that sells the Oculus Quest 2 on an official level also has access to a free silicon cover, so you need not have to worry about where you live. If you want one, head over to the My Devices page on the Oculus website and click the button that reads "request silicone facial interface cover."

So, if your skin feels uncomfortable after using your Oculus Quest 2 headset, it's worth ordering one of these masks to see if it makes a difference. And even if it doesn't affect you, it may still be worth getting one in case you have guests who want to try it on.

A Less Irritating Time With the Oculus Quest 2

If you've been spending more time itching your skin than playing VR games, there may be something in the Oculus Quest 2's foam that's causing you grief. Fortunately, you can grab a free cover today and get back to what you enjoy doing most.

Unfortunately, Oculus Quest 2 owners have had more to worry about than the materials used to make the headset. Given that Facebook is at the wheel of Oculus' development, the device comes with its fair share of privacy concerns.
