In mid-March, Intel kicked off the promotion campaign for its Xe-HPG GPUs with a scavenger hunt game. It looks like NVIDIA thought that was a good marketing idea, because now the company is doing the same for its own line of products.

You Could Win an RTX 3090 in NVIDIA's Scavenger Hunt

On Friday, NVIDIA set up a secret landing page for the first hidden treasure of its online scavenger hunt, which features a bunch of "coveted items" as prizes—including a GeForce RTX 3090 GPU.

Videocardz credits a netizen, whose pseudonym is "Darklord," for finding the secret landing page soon after Nvidia posted a video to its official YouTube channel.

Primarily, the video promotes the upcoming 2021 edition of the Graphics Technology Conference (GTC). But it's also holding at least one secret message.

What appears to be simple decorative visuals for the video—namely, the 3D golden neuron on the right hand side—is actually hiding a message in plain sight. See those blinking lights? Decode them with a Morse code sheet, and you'll find that they spell out the phrase "HIDDEN TREASURE" twice.

The landing page explains that the NVIDIA GTC keynote will go live on Monday, April 12 at 8:30am PDT, and that it'll have even more hints for you to search for. NVIDIA also says to check the first video again, because "you may find more hidden treasure."

It might be worth going through NVIDIA's other social media posts for hints too, especially if they're also related to GTC 2021. You never know where you might find another clue for more treasure!

Perhaps this scavenger hunt is NVIDIA's attempt to get more people to tune into GTC 2021. After all, the conference isn't supposed to have anything to do with graphics cards. It's meant to be about AI, the automotive industry, and NVIDIA’s datacenter and workstation products.

To participate in the scavenger hunt, tweet the hidden treasures you find (with its timestamp in the keynote) to @NVIDIAGTC with the hashtag #GTCTreasure.

Unfortunately, only residents of the EU, the UK, and the US (excluding Puerto Rico and its other territories/possessions) can win prizes due to shipping and tax regulations. NVIDIA says that everyone can play the game and earn bragging rights for finding the treasures first, though.
