After months of build-up, marked by constant leaks and a steady drip-feed of information, the most-hyped Android phone in a long time has finally been launched. The Nothing Phone (1) is available for pre-order now, and will go on general sale from July 21, mostly throughout Europe and parts of Asia. As previously revealed, the device won't be available in the US.

Let's take a look at the key features, where you can buy the phone, and how much it'll cost.

Nothing Phone (1) Specs

The Nothing Phone (1) is a mid-ranger that'll bump up alongside the likes of the OnePlus Nord 2T, the Samsung Galaxy A53, and Google's Pixel 6a. It's powered by the Snapdragon 778G+ processor, a mid-range chipset announced last year, rather than the newer Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. It comes with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM.

There's a dual-camera setup on the back, with 50MP sensors that produce 12.5MP images by default, and a 16MP camera for selfies.

The phone runs Android 12 and will be good for three years of Android updates and four years of security updates delivered every two months. A major selling point is the phone's unique design, with a transparent back panel with LEDs known as the Glyph interface. These LEDs flash when you receive notifications or calls, and can also show you your phone's charging status.

Where Can You Buy a Nothing Phone (1)?

The Nothing Phone (1) goes on general sale from July 21 via the Nothing website, or through carriers in various countries.

Among the places you can buy it are Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Italy, Macau, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK.

From July 22, you can get it in Taiwan. From August 1, it'll be available in Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Israel. And from August 7 you can get it in Singapore, UAE, and Saudi Arabia.

Among the places missing from the list, of course, are the US. Nothing has said it'll launch a phone there in the future, although is yet to announce any details on that.

UK prices for the phone have been announced. They will be £399 for the 8GB/128GB model; £449 for the 8GB/256GB version; and £499 for the 12GB version, although that's described as "coming later".

The Mid-Range Competition Hots Up

The Nothing Phone (1) is entering the part of the Android market where competition is at its fiercest. Every manufacturer has a mid-range "flagship killer" that offers most of what most people are looking for in a device, at a much more affordable price point.

So it won't be easy for Nothing to make a success of its debut phone, but the company will be hoping that it can follow the path set by its founder Carl Pei during his time at OnePlus.
