Will NoScript addon help me not getting tracked by services like Google or Facebook?

PLEASE PLEASE do not run NO SCRIPT. Not only do you destroy any advertising revenue we may have, you also break nearly everything on the internet. In fact, you won't even be able to come back to ask "why does nothing on the internet work anymore?" after installing that. 90% of internet sites are build on modern jQuery/javascript, and the idea that javascript should be blocked at all died with animated gifs about 5 years ago. Rather, perhaps you should ask yourself - why exactly do you want google and facebook to stop tracking you? Do you understand exactly what they are "tracking", or are you just asking because it's the trendy thing to do? Do you even have a facebook account and a google account, or are you worried they are 'tracking' you on your IP address or something?

James, your snide tone is a give-away. Either you are naive or believe that you have a right to commit break and enter, albeit via the internet. Tracking and agregating info to sell to advertisers is virtual B&E and pawning, it should be a crime unless the info is obtained via informed consent, and I suspect that my standareds for 'informed consent' are more rigorous than yours.Remember, just because you think you have the right to take things from other people, and to bully them when they object, doesn't mean that you are right. Using words like 'destroy' doesn't mean that you are entitled to revenues gained by secretly taking and selling info from others, and using put-downs like 'trendy' doesn't change the fact that you are bullying people who want to protect their own privacy, that in itself is revealing, and you are doing it because you make money by keeping their privacy compromised. Also revealing. If you intend to rob someone, it's great that you are up front about it, but call it like it is. I appreciate that you are open regarding your sense of superiority and your entitlement to have undisclosed, unauthorized access to surveil and sell people's personal information including records of their behaviour. What makes it any different than break and entering, or misrepresentation, or pick-pocketing, etc.?

I think noscript can do it.I also used ghostery to block facebook trackers, and it is really simple.just select and block. But ghostery not only shows the trackers but also the javascripts, that track activity. So I searched and found this.try it :http://techliberation.com/2011/05/20/privacy-solutions-how-to-block-facebooks-like-button-and-other-social-widgetsalso, you can use adblock plus for this,http://www.plee.me/blog/2011/05/blocking-the-facebook-like-button-via-adblock-plu

hello .NoScript , as the name suggests is a script blocker , which will block all the scripts running on a web page .so its primary concern is preventing unauthorized and malicious scripts from executing .as it blocks the scripts from running , security is the first benefit you get and while blocking , it will also block some tracking scripts from ad trackers or other such , and that then is the secondary benefit .basically it will not prevent any tracking or other such issues but its just an added benefit you get from running NoScript .for preventing tracking and preserving your privacy issues , its recommended to run some other add ons .like >Ghostery >Better Privacy >Track Me Not>TACO>Abine Security Suite .>Optimize Google ( for preventing snooping of your surfing by Google and other tweaks esp for the google services .)>Anonymize Chrome ( which removes the permanent tracking ID associated with your chrome browser .)

AdBlock Plus on Chrome or Firefox, download Facebook Privacy List is a filter subscriptionhttp://www.squirrelconspiracy.net/abp/facebook-privacy-list.htmland add it to AdBlock Plus to block Facebook plugins and scripts all over the web.Doing this will not load Facebok like, send or share buttons on any site you visit and hence your browsing activity remains hidden from Facebook.

Hello, I think the no-script addon is only for preventing javascript, flash, bad code, etc in the sites you go too.  If you want some protection against tracking, you could use ghostery.  With ghostery, you could see the sites tracking your activity in any website you go.  You are able to block or allow sites according to your likes and dislikes.
